Product of the Month: C9 by Champion Impact Athletic Shoe

photo 2 (1)

So I have resolved to exercise and eat better, as I have many times and failed horribly, but this time I’m for reals haha.

I decided to start off right by getting some good work out shoes which also served as a motivational boost (I don’t know what it is about buying fitness clothes but it inspires me).

This is the first pair of running shoes that I’ve ever owned; and I LOVE them!

They are WAY light and made with ventilated fabric so your feet don’t get all sweaty, and their design helps with balance and also allows natural movement which makes them super comfy.

I got mine at Target for $29.99 which I think is an amazing price for these shoes.

I’m currently starting this regimen I found on Pinterest that takes you from being a walker to a runner. If you’re interested you can find the regimen here.  If you wish to follow me on pinterest you can find me here!

So wish me luck as I try to create a healthy lifestyle; and if you’re on the same boat: I’m proud of you; good job, keep going!!!

So this post is way late in coming but here it is!

I’m super excited to say that the makeup I did for my sweet friend’s wedding was credited on Ruffled (super awesome wedding blog)! See post here.

And of course I can’t help but share some more wonderful photos of that special day here on V&B.

Some of My Favorite Things (Right Now)

photo 1

Today I’m sharing a list five  simple things that I have been loving lately.

First up we have an Anthropologie mug. I literally would love to have every mug and tea cup in that store! This was has been a fave for awhile now as it sports my new last initial. Take a peek at Anthro’s collection here

Next is a ‘Wall Flower’ by Bath & Body Works. This is our first one so we assume it lasts at least a month, but man, they smell delicious! We’re enjoying Chestnut and Clove right now and saving Sweater Weather for later. Check ’em out here

Then we have a F21 necklace that I love for two reasons: 1 It’s rose gold (who doesn’t love that) 2 It looks like a party banner! Check out other triangular designs here

Here we have a lip color in Sassy Mauve by Revlon that I had purchased here. It is the perfect touch of mauve for all us of fair-skinned peeps!

And last but not least…PAPER STRAWS! I’m obsessed. They are so much fun and come in so many designs, and no, you do not have to have a party in order to use them! I purchased mine here, here, and here. Gotta love that Etsy!

When Duty Calls: A Survival List for Maids of Honor and Bridesmaids

Your hair is curled, makeup done, dress is on, and all you have to do is enjoy the special moments of watching your dear friend or family member get ready to meet her groom….THEN BAM. Whether it’s a tear in her dress or a sudden bout of cotton mouth; here you will find a list to help stock your wedding day emergency kit!

Pack lots of it; whether the wedding begins in the morning or evening you need to see to it that the bride is well hydrated. Now you will be tempted to buy those adorable paper straws so that she won’t ruin her glossy lips. In that case you have to be sure to bring cups as well because it’s a real pain trying to fish those out of a water bottle. I find ‘to go’ cups that come with their own straws are best, and since they have lids she’s less likely to spill.

Nourishment is just as important as hydration; so be sure to pack healthy snacks to ward off hunger and headaches. Also choose snacks that don’t require refrigeration as those aren’t always handy.

Or whatever medicine you prefer for headaches.

When brides are nervous or excited and thrown out of their normal morning routine, this step is easily forgotten.

Or whatever you use to fish out little specks of food from your teeth.

This is the bride’s unsung hero! Dab it around her inner thighs (don’t be shy with the amount) before she slips on the dress or walks down the aisle to minimize moisture from sweat.

Aside from pre ceremony tears, you can fold a tissue up super small and all of you can hold one behind the stems of your bouquets during the ceremony.

For quick makeup fixes or just in case she forgot to take care of her ears this morning too!

Make sure it has thread that matches the brides dress.

Because you never know!

I know it’s a lot but trust me, it will give all of you peace of mind and quite a bit of it will come into play throughout the wedding day!

I hope this was helpful, good luck ❤

Surprised by Blessings

Lately I have been overwhelmed by an immense amount of blessings! I’ll list a few below:

1 We recently were able to start painting the house (which made an awesome difference)

2 We  opened up our home for a GORGEOUS bridal shower

3 It was my birthday a couple days ago and my sweet friend put together a fun outdoor soiree

4 Totally was not expecting to receive gifts from the above soiree but made out like a bandit

5 And one of the most sweetest blessings; being a part of a ministry that will be taking off soon

That was a few of many things that have been showering my heart with joy and thankfulness.

Now my point of this post is not to say that ‘yet I’m still wanting’ or how ‘I don’t recognize them for the blessings they are’, but to simply share how this has so amazed and humbled me! I mean, who am I that God would pour out all these blessings over me, and keep pouring?!

I’ve done absolutely nothing to deserve this…and perhaps that’s the point. I believe that this time around, God has intended to be glorified within the sweet moments that I’m pondering all the wonderful things He has done for me. Like how He provides in such a way that I can randomly surprise a friend for lunch. Or when I choose the wrong paint color and we’re able to go back and get the right one (more on that in a later post). Or when I feel blah and such a slacker housewife and am greeted in the morning with a note of appreciation for all the work I do.

I cannot express to Him my thankfulness and amazement! What can I do but offer my heart in humble praise?

Unplanned Housewife

When I got engaged OUR plan was for me to work a part-time job until we had our first child; but GOD’S plan was quite different.

I used to work for a franchise (whom I won’t name here) who’s particular owner thought that throwing around schedules and cutting work days down to one a week served as great motivation; yeah….NOT!

Many times on my ‘after work’ visits to my Fiance, I would be overly stressed and angry, or in discouraged tears.

One night I was bawling my eyes out and asked if, after we were married, I could just quit and then look for another job (our previous plan was for me to stay at this place til I found work elsewhere). We prayed about it then and there with a month left til we were married.

The next day I was laid off! I had a mixed feeling of relief and rejection, mostly relief, but never fear because I knew this was God’s will for us.

I soon applied for a job only to receive a letter of rejection a couple weeks later, we didn’t care, we had marriage on the brain.

And now that we are married I am totally thankful that God has provided for us in such a way that I can stay home. ‘Settling in’ is not as easy as it sounds, nor is running a home regardless of how much preparation you have undergone. I know that for me personally, I couldn’t run our home as well if I were working; God truly does know best.

So hat’s off to all the ladies on the same boat as me, your job is unique, necessary, and deserves respect regardless of what this modern age tells you. Do not feel guilty or useless because it’s quite obvious you are needed where you are.

Much love to you all xoxo

Modesty Goes to the Beach!

photo (4)

It’s Summer time ladies, and we’ve all been there, sitting on the beach or laying out by the pool only to be surrounded by a bunch of scantily clad women. And there you are; in your two piece that is more on the modest side, and actually pretty darn cute, and now and then you get that uncomfortable feeling that you’re either being hounded by a wolf, or criticized for your supposed lack of fashion sense.

Allow me to introduce you to Jessica Rey. She is designer and shop owner of Rey Swimwear and here you will find a short vid of her speaking about the pitfalls of beach fashion as well as the truth about modesty; plain and simple.

So please take a few minutes to watch; and prepare to be inspired to explore your own style, and be emboldened in the face of booty shorts and backless shirts (I know I was)!
